Created by the reduction of a sweet liquid (water mixed with sugar, cane juice, agave, etc.), all syrups sold in France must contain a minimum of 55% sugar (50% in the case of syrups citrus). Fruit syrups which contain in addition to sugar a minimum of 10% fruit juice (7% in the case of citrus fruits). Syrup of orgeat is a syrup whose main taste is that of almond extracts; the grenadine syrup rarely contains grenadine, but most often a mixture of extracts of red fruits and vanilla.
